Gareth Southcott
Director

Gareth learnt to sail at a young age and has always had a love for the sea and the outdoors. Gareth joined the Royal Navy upon leaving school where he trained as an Operator Mechanic Mine Warfare enjoying the seamanship side role of the branch. This began his venture into RIBs working as a coxswain boarding a variety of vessels along the English coast.

Gareth then went on to work at Seaham Harbour working on their vessels and dock gates. Although a demanding job he thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly working as coxswain of the pilot cutter.

Starting in offshore renewables in 2012 Gareth has worked on numerous windfarms in a variety of roles including CTV Master, Dive Vessel Master, Survey Vessel Master and Offshore Marine Co-Ordinator.  Throughout all of this he realised the need of safety/workboat hire throughout the UK and so started NESB in 2010.

Jason Kelly
Senior Skipper

Jay as he likes to be known has an affirmation with the sea with a passion for all types of angling, growing up in Hartlepool he spent his youth on the many shorelines fishing, Jay took his passion further and began working in a local tackle shop before working on a successful local charter vessel. Jay has been with NESB since the start and has been at the forefront of all NESB’s projects to date.

Not one to sit still Jay can often been seen on projects being as hands on as possible whether it is assisting scaffolders with fittings or helping to set the site compound up, he is always one to help.

Like all our skippers Jay realises this is not a nine till five job and works hard to liaise with clients on issues such as tidal windows and weather restrictions as well as helping to train and co-ordinate crews.
